Top O' The Morning

I haven't posted a new post here on my 365 blog in some time. Sorry about that. Life has been absolutely, insanely crazy this past year. I can't believe my daughter will be turning a year old in just ten days.

We've had a lot of firsts, naturally, over the course of the year, and much to my surprise, living in the south, we've had not only our first snow but several snows this winter. So I thought I'd post a photo today of one of our snowy days here this past winter. This is a photo of the tree tops behind our house. I thought it turned out rather well. No touch ups. The sky was really that blue!


But as much as I loved the snow and playing in it. I'm ready for us to move on to Spring! I hope to post more photos soon. I truly miss my photo a day and plan to jump back in there. I'm already getting my stuff with it so that I can.

Sims Lake

The DH and I took off this morning to Sims Lake Park. A park that isn't too far from our house. This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. I chose this photo as the photo of the day because I like the way the trees are reflected in the lake and how you can see the light layer of fog rolling over the water.

Day 67; Project 365

This day was so hectic. I was running around cleaning the house like a crazy person, putting final touches up in the nursery and getting ready for my in-laws visit that afternoon. I literally only had about 5 minutes of down time.

So when I glanced out of the window and saw the buds on the trees I grabbed my camera and ran out side for a few quick shots. I'm actually amazed at how good this one turned out.

It's hard to believe that the exact same time this photo was taken, a week earlier a winter storm was dumping 4-6 inches of snow on a good part of North Georgia.

Across The Lake

Day 65; Project 365

On Day 65 I was driving home from work and traffic was backed up so far that I was literally at a stand still over Buford Dam. As I sat there looking around, I decided to whip out my camera and take a few photos. This one turned out pretty good.

I give you the still very drought stricken Lake Sidney Lanier. You can see in this photo how low the water still remains, despite the rain fall we've been getting, the lake needs a lot more. Heck, the entire area needs a lot more.

Marks The Spot

Day 51; Project 365

Every day I park in pretty much the same spot at work. Always under the Assembly C sign and always beside these trees. I use them as guides. I know when the tree is level with a certain part of my car that I'm fully in the parking space.

Lately I've been paying closer attention to the trees and the way the lights (the parking lights, car lights, sunlight) play against them. So on Day 51 I pulled out my trusty Olympus camera and snapped a few photos. This one was actually taken from inside my car at the trees and the line of trees beyond. You can see the first heat of the sunrise just behind them. And if you look really close you can see a parking light in the background of the shot.

I liked this shot because I liked the way the light shifts through the photograph almost creating barriers at each point of distance.

Project 365 - Day 22

Some days you're just minding your own business, doing mundane things and you suddenly find something unexpected. That's what happened to me on Day 22. I was going about my day, doing laundry when I happened to peek out the window. The view I saw was awesome. And so it became my Project 365 picture of the day.

The only thing I dislike, and a drawback for living in an older neighborhood, is that I couldn't quite get all of the powerlines out of the shot. But I do love the bird's nest high up in the tree.

Project 365 - Day 21

I took this picture of one of the bushes that line the front of our house. Back in the spring we dug up the old bushes and planted knew ones. They all dug in an flourished except this one. Within about a week all the leaves turned brown, and then soon after, they all fell off. We thought this bush was a goner for sure.

But we left it in the ground and continued to water it and after a while there were tiny green buds growing. Now there are several. They may be small and scattered but they are hopeful. They give me hope.

This little one isn't as full as the other bushes, but it's hanging in there and fighting back.

I took another photo of this bush, and it may actually be the better photo of the two for this day, but when I saw this one I knew it was the one because of how much it relates to my life at the time. And for me that's what this project is all about.

Project 365 - Day 8

Things have been insane for the past two days, leaving some of us wondering what the heck was going on. When I walked out of work today and looked up, I knew what the answer must be. Shining bright in the big blue sky was the moon.

I only wish I'd had a better camera with my other than my Olympus. I could have gotten closer with a better, stronger zoom.
